Why I created Live Your Myth (in Greece)
Live your Myth is a free online strategy game about overtourism. It runs in your browser, nothing to install. You become mayor of a small Greek island, and for twelve years you take the decisions our real islands are taking right now: how many beds get built, how many cruise ships dock, how far the water reaches, what is left of the monuments, who can still afford to live there.
Best played on a computer rather than a phone. It has a lot of parameters, just like tourism itself!
I did not build it to raise awareness. I built it to satirise. In Greece, the tourism debate is only ever held from the extremes: either «tourism is our heavy industry, touch nothing» or «we have ruined the islands, everything and everyone is to blame». The truth, as usual, lives somewhere in the middle. Only nobody stands in the middle, because the middle sells neither front pages nor posts. That is why the two buttons above lead to the same island: whichever extreme you pick, the treasury, the water and the neighbours are the same. Play the twelve years and show us where exactly that middle falls.
It is not a lesson, it is satire. With a newspaper that roasts you, tourist reviews, elections, borrowed money, and a Galleria that used to be an olive grove. Survive the twelve years, and the frappé is on you.
P.S. The island is only the first stop. Live your Myth in Egypt is coming soon.
Moments from the island

What you will play
- Turn-based island management — you think in seasons, not in seconds.
- 10 levels + endless mode on an island that «remembers» what you did to it.
- A newspaper, tourist reviews, elections, and events that show no mercy.
- The Municipal Ledger: 24 talents to build your own doctrine.
- A free Greek indie game — if you enjoy it, buy the chef a coffee on Ko-fi.
